'Exploring Outside The Box' Cahergal N.S.

In the years 2020 & 2021 children were trapped inside a physical and metaphorical box, from Zoom grids to 5km circles, pods, and classroom bubbles.

This project took place over a series of six workshops, aims to encourage the pupils of Cahergal N.S. to explore beyond the ‘box’. Led by their ideas, experiences, and reimagining of local landmarks, they collaboratively create fantastical fun narratives inspired by escapism.

Participants experimented with materials, travelled with storytelling, and played through performance, while four artists helped them curate what they would like to present in a public exhibition. The exhibition was available to view online on County Galway’s Creative Ireland Facebook page, and was also on show in the windows of Tuam Library on June 12th 2021.

This project was facilitated by Sparkcatchers! artists Jojo Hynes & Midie Corcoran with Kathy Ross and Jennifer Cunningham.
